For 2012, we have added more options to the Quarter Master Lineup, including STREET AND RACE versions of the clutch assembly. The street clutch option weighs approximately 21.5 Pounds while the race clutch option weighs 17.5 Pounds w/ring gear.
As well, we offer two different friction compounds for the clutch disk pack assemblies:
*RACE = Bronze Ferrometallic Friction Material (Higher Torque/Higher Power Setups)
*STREET = Cerametallic Friction Material (Lower Torque or Street Cars)

This is THE clutch you all have been waiting to arrive! This is the same PROTOTYPE Quarter Master Clutch assembly that I have been running in my car since 2007, and it was specifically designed as a disk upgrade for people producing high torque numbers, or having issues with clutch disk hub spline failure or input shaft damage from the other multi-disk clutch assemblies on the market today.
This is a completely NEW DESIGN for the clutch disk hub and removes any chances of twisting your input shaft splines or stripping off the clutch disk hub splines on the twin-disk clutch. The NEW Quarter Master GEAR-DRIVE Rally 7.25" V-Drive Twin Disk Clutch Assembly utilizes the same heavy-duty clutch disks (0.250"-thick disks) and same heavy-duty ferrometallic friction material, but doubles the amount of engagement surface on the input shaft, doubles the number of clutch hub rivets holding the hub to the disk, and dramatically increases the clutch disk engagement surface by utlizing a fixed-hub back disk, and a floating front disk. This race clutch disk assembly will support over 1000TQ! (The street clutch disk assembly is rated for 800TQ). As well, due to the hub/slider design, it reduces clutch decelleration chatter and harmonics along with eliminating input shaft spline twisting or deformation. If you are looking for the ULTIMATE DSM twin-disk clutch without the price of a carbon/carbon multi-disk assembly, you have found it! The clutch is also very streetable and has smooth engagement characteristics with low noise and extremely soft pedal feel.
The entire Quarter Master Clutch RACE Assembly (Clutch cover, pressure plate, front disk, floater plate, rear disk and RACE chromoly steel flywheel and ring gear weighs in at an astounding 17.5 POUNDS! The lighter the clutch assembly and the smaller the diameter, the less Moment Of Inertia (MOI) the clutch has; resulting in faster revving, less drivetrain power loss, higher RPM shifting, and faster shifting capabilities!
The entire Quarter Master Clutch STREET Assembly (Clutch cover, pressure plate, front disk, floater plate, rear disk and STREET chromoly steel flywheel weighs in at an 21.5 POUNDS and is designed to be run on vehicles above 2800# to keep better street manners and more inertia for stop-and-go driving. It is the ideal clutch for a full-weight car wanting to hold the power!
The NEW DESIGN clutch disk hub splines now engage the entire length of the input shaft using one piece, whereas the original design, and every other design out there currently being used engages the input shaft using two separate floating hubs. The older clutch disks (current production pieces) engage at the most of 0.850" on the input shaft splines. The new hub design engages 1.550" of the input shaft splines with a single piece!!! These clutch disks have nearly DOUBLE the engagement area on the input shaft! The single solid piece design will definitely require you to have a good input shaft in the transmission, but it will eliminate the potential issue of twisting off input shaft splines on high HP cars. The only way the clutch can potentially fail now, would be for the input shaft to snap in half!
This NEW DESIGN takes the entire splined hub and puts it on one single disk, then floats the second disk on a set of much larger/beefier splines to prevent failure, while reducing excessive clutch harmonics and decelleration chatter. TMZ Performance still recommends using a Fluidampr Harmonic Crank Damper to further reduce 4th Order harmonics, as it will increase the life of your clutch, transmission and engine bearings. The splined hub is approximately 3.00" and is 39-spline for engagement of the second disk, whereas the old version is like any other Mitsubishi (Ford 20-spline) 7/8" 20-spline engagement hub. The clutch disk hub is also much stronger by the fact it is now using 12 rivets instead of the 8 rivets used on the current production version. That's 50% MORE FASTENERS holding the hub to the disk!
Minor modification / grinding of the clutch fork is required to clear the clutch cover on this unit if using the stock clutch fork.
***TMZ Performance recommends using the Competition Clutch Forged Steel Clutch Fork with OEM Throwout Bearing (TOB) and OEM TOB Clip and OEM Clutch Fork Pivot Ball. No Special Clearance is necessary with this clutch fork***
Like all Quarter Master Clutch products, these clutch assemblies are fully rebuildable and can be used over and over again by just replacing the parts that are worn. This saves money in the long run!
